The Bible also gives us a wonderful knothole in the fence to see our Jesus restoring a man when that man’s actions caused harm to his relationship with Jesus…
That man is Peter & Peter had such a relationship with Jesus…
Peter is one of those guys that is active, impetuous, a little reckless, perhaps hotheaded, impulsive.
Peter is likely the only man in history that pulled Jesus aside & tells Jesus he can’t be right…Mark 8
(with the help of Herbert Lockyer “All the Apostles of the Bible”) 3 Times Peter Confessed that Jesus was Lord Luke 5, Matthew 16, John 6 3 times Peter boasted that he would die with & for Jesus…never to fall away…Mark 14 3 times Peter was warned that he was in league with the devil’s way of thinking, that satan desired to sift him, & that he would deny Jesus…Matthew 16, Luke 22, John 13
3 times Peter denied Christ even swearing or using profanity to deny his relationship with Jesus. Matt 26, Mark 14, Luke 22, John 18
Luke even has firsthand knowledge that as Peter was vehemently denying that he knew Jesus…Peter met eyes with Jesus in that very moment.
Peter’s story gives us a glimpse at what restoration to Jesus looks like
All of us at some point need restoration with Jesus
