Passage: Romans 6:1-4

Speaker: jeff blaine

When you and I choose to be immersed we are now into Jesus or put another way in the same context of the preposition into, we are in Jesus.
Meaning at that point you have now entered Christ, you are one with Christ, you now abide in Christ,
As you contemplate and believe in this concept of being into Jesus Christ through your immersion it opens a whole vast array of verses that give a deeper meaning…which you will soon see.
Obviously, God put this in the Bible and wanted us to understand that using the preposition “into” helps us conclude that we are one with Jesus.
What are the reasons that God would want that?
What are the reasons that Jesus would want to be one with any of us?
I've lived with myself for 52 years and sometimes I wonder how anybody would want to live with me let alone be one with me.
So, there are some fascinating reasons that Jesus would want to be one with you.
I'm going to forego some obvious questions but just to throw this out there: I get asked frequently do I have to be baptized?
 I think that's a poor question.
The best question is: where are you in desiring to be one with Jesus?
If we find ourselves in a position of looking at the Bible as a set of “have to's” instead of “get to’s” then we are looking for a line to follow not Jesus.
It would seem we're looking to see how close we can be to the edge of following Jesus without really following Jesus.
I believe this is a flawed mentality.
As we progress through Romans 6 my desire is for you to see the desire Jesus has for you: Jesus desires to be one with you.
Here are the fascinating reasons Jesus desires to be one with you
