I noticed this week that there was an awkward tension.
I was invited to the school to engage students and staff alike as we contemplated the loss of a 17-year-old girl.
I noticed something, I noticed that as I stood in the hallway waiting for the time to pass and as time in between classes was lapsing that I would meet people in the hallway.
There were awkward glances, awkward silences, a sense of unease.
I do have a role as a preacher in our community, but I'm convinced that I have a greater role as a Christian no matter what community I am in.
I think you have this role too.
What is this role that you and I have as followers of Jesus Christ?
It's hard to wrap our minds around it but you and I are to engage the world from a standpoint that we are followers of Jesus Christ.
As we start our study in Romans today Paul greets the church at Rome in such a way that helps us see our part in being a Christian to those around us.
This greeting that Paul has is a standard of greeting for all Christians.
So maybe you can relate to what I just said about how sometimes greetings are awkward, or being in a new environment is awkward, or maybe there is a nervous tension whatever environment you are in
as we examine this template that Paul sets up for us it's important to realize that Paul's life is in Jesus Christ
today if you are a follower of Christ, you too are in Jesus Christ.
What it means for you to greet others as a Christian
