Sermon 16 2 ways not to waste your time

Date:4/23/23

Passage: Genesis 11:1-9

Speaker: jeff blaine

How can you tell when your time is being wasted?
How can you tell when you are wasting precious time?
Time is precious and it would be wise for us to consider that often as that must influence how we use our time.
Moses prayed to God in Psalm 90 to help him number his days to be a wiser person…
So teach us to number our days,
That we may present to You a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12
Your days are going to end. There is a day coming in which you will no longer be alive on this earth and when you acknowledge that you gain a sense of wisdom.
Wisdom is the proper application of knowledge and today I'm going to share with you two things that will help you not waste your time.
But first let's recall last week’s message about Nimrod
we determined in Genesis 11: 4 that Nimrod was about making a name for himself; The generations that followed him did the same thing.
We asked 3 poignant questions last week to consider if we are being a Nimrod
Whose name are you fighting for? Genesis 10:8
Whose name are you hunting after? Genesis 10:9
What name rules your kingdom? Genesis 10:10-12
These three questions are critical for you to understand the motive of your heart.
However, we do not always understand the motive of our heart unless we also consider the actions of our body.
As a Christian there must be some sense of daily self-evaluation on the reason I'm doing what I'm doing to help me determine who is directing my life.
I'm going to show you two actions today, out of the scriptures, that can help you determine if you are wasting your time.
