sermon 31 How God wants you to live in peace with others

Date:8/20/23

Passage: Genesis 21:22-34

Speaker: jeff blaine

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Romans 12:17-18
This is quite a monumental task but it is still an expectation God has for everyone who believes in Him.
You are called to be a peacemaker; for as much as it depends on you live in peace by bringing peace to every relationship
How God wants you to live in peace with others (even non-believers)
Genesis 21:22-34
Not every person will allow you to live in peace with them; this according to the biblical definition is an enemy.
In fact, Jesus accounts for this in the sermon on the mount where he commands us to “love our enemies.”
There are actual people who are your enemies because they refuse to live at peace with you.
What are we to do when faced with an enemy?
The Bible calls God-followers peacemakers because we are to make peace with people around us because that is what God did for us through Jesus.
Through Jesus we have peace with God;
Thus, this is how we respond to people who are odds with us, who are enemies to us, we attempt to make peace.What does that look like? How do we pursue peace?
