I've heard people ask this question but not before experiencing great turmoil, after great harm to themselves, and after great harm to others.
they typically ask this question after they've exhausted the relationships around them, after they have exhausted resources such as money, vehicles, a home, or a job.
The question people ask when they get to rock bottom is what?
“how did I get here?”
there is a “how did I get here” moment in Genesis 3 that we would be wise to try to understand.
listen to this “how did I get here” moment concerning Adam and Eve
read Genesis 3:22-24
I think it would be easy for us to be highly critical of our married couple today and how they handled themselves in the garden of Eden.
They now find themselves cast out from the tree of life, from God, from a place to live securely with one another, and the start of hardship within their marriage extending into their children.
I wonder as Adam & Eve stood at the edge of the garden thrust out by the angel with a flaming sword did they ask the question: “how did I get here”?
I think there is an even better time to ask that question and it’s before you get to an “how did I get here” moment.
It seems too few people don’t want to consider that they could do the very thing Adam & Eve did: sin against God.
When you realize that you have the full capability to be in a “how did I get here” moment just like Adam and Eve… you develop a mindset to want God & His Word in your life.
You become a better student of God’s word when you realize you have the exact capability of Adam and Eve to be in a “how did I get here” moment.
